We have organised a visit to Bakewell and Kedleston Hall on: Wednesday May 20th 2026

Kedleston Hall (NT) is a large country mansion built in the 1760’s for the Curzon family. It has a Palladian-style exterior and a Robert Adam-influenced interior where many national treasures and family artefacts are on display. Standing within extensive parklands it also offers an opportunity to enjoy an easy stroll and a coffee break in the cafeteria. More extensive details of the Hall and its attractions can be found on their website.
Bakewell[http:///] is an attractive market town in Derbyshire and is the only town within the boundaries of the Peak National Park. Situated on the River Wye it offers the opportunity for a riverside stroll or alternatively to admire the quaint stone buildings and courtyards within the town and perhaps stop at a local café for tea and a slice of its famous Bakewell Pudding.
Travel plans:
As Harris coaches are no longer trading, we are using Elgar Coaches who will pick us up at the School Drive Car Park which is next to the Methodist Church where we hold our main meetings.
If you choose to drive to the car park, the cost of a full day ticket is £6.
The coach will arrive at the car park at around 08:45 and will leave the School Drive Car Park (B60 1AZ) at 09:00. We will then travel to Bakewell to spend approximately 1-2 hours before travelling on to visit Kedleston Hall. We plan to leave Kedleston at approximately 16:30 which should get us back in Bromsgrove at approximately 18:30.
Costs
The cost of the trip is £20 for NT members but non-NT members will have to pay £39.95 to cover the cost of entrance. It is essential that NT membership cards are produced for verification purposes on arrival otherwise you will have to pay the £19.95 entrance fee.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing to cope with uncertain weather conditions, make sure your mobile phone is fully charged, switched on and carried with you in case we must call you.
I hope you will consider joining us on the day which should offer something for everyone to enjoy in (hopefully) early summer sunshine.
