For the first trip of 2026 a day out has been organised to visit the above locations, both of which are very different but interesting in their unique way.
Jodrell Bank is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the UK’s largest radio telescope and part of the department of Astrophysics of The University of Manchester. You will be able to browse various interactive Science Exhibitions, take a stroll through the Arboretum and take a break and/or refreshments in the on-site café.
Leaving Jodrell Bank we travel on to visit the historic market town of Nantwich which is famed for its many medieval timber-framed buildings, Roman salt production and more recently its many independent shops. The nearby canal offers the opportunity for gentle strolls along its banks.
The cost per head is £33.00.
As is usual, the starting time is 0900 from Harris Coaches depot, Catshill and 0910 from Bromsgrove bus station.
As is obvious the day will involve an amount of walking both indoors and out so you are advised to wear suitable footwear and clothing to meet any challenges posed by our very changeable climate!
As is usual the trip is open to U3A members only and taken at individual member’s own risk.
Please consider joining us on what could be a very informative and interesting start to Trips for 2026.
