Chess is an intellectually challenging game involving both strategy and tactics. It is also fun to play – always absorbing and sometimes beautiful. We are all learners.
The best bits are understanding why some moves work better than others and appreciating the dynamics of imbalanced positions that help in judgments and forming a game plan. We enjoy sharing our thoughts about these things.
Social Chess is not about who wins or loses, it is not a competition. We help each other to improve.
You can also sit out and watch games while you build confidence.
Chandler Court very generously donates the room and provide wonderful refreshments (tea/coffee, cake, biscuits) at half time. There is usually parking available.
Skill level: all, we welcome beginners and experienced players.
